Lockdown Learning - Editing Videos in Adobe Premiere Pro

What have you been doing during lockdown?  Have you learnt a new skill or continued with something that you haven't had time for until now?

I qualified as a drone operator last year - purely for creating arty photography and videos to inspire people to travel or to show those that can't, something from other parts of the world.  The clips are free and the process of making them has been interesting. I started by using some ACDSee products but found that the quality wasn't good enough for hi-rez broadcast on YouTube.  So I opted to extend my Adobe plan, which worked out quite well for a Community Project.

Adobe Premiere Pro is a doddle to use on basic functions.  You'll see from the clip below that I'm not flash or fancy ... and to be honest, I'm still in my infancy where creating small films are concerned. The good thing about this product is that there are so many helpful articles or videos online for when you get stuck!  You're never alone and that makes it a joy to use ... a sense of invisible camaraderie...okay not invisible - I can see and/or hear the person helping me.  I feel a deep sense of gratitude every time I get a question answered and I can do something different or new with my mini films.

This clip is called 'Flying Over Iceland 1 - A Wolf's Eye View ... me being the Wooluf.  I found some free sound loops - edited the video and was reasonable happy with the outcome for my first piece.  I was in Iceland in February this year and was booked to be back there in March but Covid19 put a stop to that so I couldn't complete my Winter set.  In terms of wilderness, Iceland is amazing! One of the difficulties of filming Iceland in the winter is the weather...the beautiful places are nearly always windy!  So the footage was comprised of small clips because I was worried about how the drone would perform.

I hope you'll subscribe to the channel and check out the other videos...and feel free to share what you've been up to in the comments box below - especially if it's something creative!

All the best,

Villayat 'Wolf' Sunkmanitu
